Working with agents

Chats & stores

Every chat belongs to a store, and every chat is saved.

Stores

Each store is a separate business with its own storefront, data and chats. Create one with the + beside Stores in the sidebar. Its ID comes from the name and never changes.

One store is always selected: new chats start there and the dashboard shows it. Switch from the store selector in the prompt box, the + beside a store, or the dashboard's store switcher. Existing chats always stay on the store they started in.

Chats

Choose New Agent and send a message. The chat is titled automatically and saved to your account, so it's exactly as you left it on any device.

Start a new chat for each new task: agents stay focused, it costs fewer credits and history is easier to search. Your storefront, store data and memory carry over between chats; the conversation doesn't.

Hover over a chat to pin, rename, archive or delete it. Search titles across every store with ⌘G. Deleting a chat never affects your store.

Rewinding a chat

To undo a wrong turn, hover over one of your messages and choose rewind, or press Escape twice. That message and everything after it are removed, along with any storefront changes made since, and the message returns to the prompt box to edit.

  • Rewinds are permanent, and ones that undo storefront work ask you to confirm
  • Only the preview is rewound, not your live site or store data. See Versions & rollback
  • Other chats on the store share the storefront, so they're rewound too

What agents can do

Anything you'd do in the dashboard, and much of what you'd hire a developer for.

Describe the outcome you want. Agents work out the steps, carry them out and report back, asking for approval before anything changes.

Running your store

Store changes take effect immediately, on your live site too. Agents can work across:

  • Products, variants and stock across locations
  • Orders: labels, fulfilment, refunds, cancellations and order emails
  • Shipping carriers and settings
  • Customers, loyalty tiers and points
  • Discounts, promo codes and sales
  • Email templates and campaigns
  • Cart recovery and notifications
  • Returns, exchanges and fraud decisions
  • Analytics for any date range
  • Data exports and your email logo
Example request

Fulfill all of today's UK orders with the cheapest tracked service, then give me the labels to print.

Building your storefront

Agents design and refine your site in a private preview, wired to your live data. Before publishing, they check that tracking, checkout, the cart, order tracking and returns pages are in place, and offer to build anything missing. They can also take your store offline, and find, buy or connect a domain. See Custom domains.

Example request

Is my store ready to go live? If it is, publish it and find me a .com domain under $20.

Limits

  • One store per chat
  • Scheduled tasks can only look, not change anything
  • Attached images can't be added to products; upload them or share a link
  • Rollback only goes back one publish
  • Importing from another platform starts on the Import data page, not in chat

Approvals

Nothing changes without your go-ahead.

Before a change, agents show a card naming exactly what will happen, with a warning when money or something irreversible is involved. Each change gets its own card.

What needs approval

What it coversHow it asks
Never asksLooking things up, building in the preview, remembering, setting up scheduled tasksGoes ahead
Asks firstRoutine, reversible changes: products, promotions, email templates, order notes, settingsCan be always allowed for the chat
Asks every timeSpending money, reaching customers, changing your live site, or anything that can't be undoneEvery time, no skipping

Tick Always allow to skip repeat cards for the same kind of change, for the rest of that chat only.

Answering a card

  • Allow (Enter) or Cancel (Escape)
  • Typing a new message cancels the card, a quick way to say “not that, do this”
  • Stopping, closing the app or losing connection cancels it too
  • A cancelled action isn't retried

Changes you make yourself, in the dashboard or with the Publish button, don't need a card.

Context

Giving agents context

Images, products, the web and your voice.

Agents already see your store's data, your storefront, the current chat and their memory. Add what only you know: the goal, the limits and anything outside your store. When a chat gets full (the circle in the prompt box), start a new one.

Images

Attach, drag or paste up to 8 images (JPEG, PNG, GIF or WebP, under 5 MB) to show a bug, a look you want, or a product to describe. Images aren't saved to your store, except a logo for your emails.

Products with @

Type @ and pick a product to tag exactly which one you mean.

Example request

Put @Linen Shirt and @Canvas Tote on sale for 20% off this weekend.

Choose Web search from the + menu for current outside information, like competitor prices. It applies to one message, then switches off.

Voice input

Select the microphone and speak. Stop to review the words, send to skip review, or × to discard. Recordings run up to five minutes, cost $0.0045 per minute and aren't stored. If the microphone fails, check your browser's permissions and input device.

Memory

What agents learn about your business carries into every chat.

Agents save short notes on what matters: your brand voice, policies, suppliers and work in progress. They never save passwords or keys. Notes belong to your account and are shared across your stores, so say which store a note is about.

Ask them to remember, update or forget anything, or ask what they remember. Everything happens in chat.

Example request

Remember that we ship from Manchester, dispatch within two working days, and don't ship to the Channel Islands.

Customize

Models & effort

Which model agents run on, and how hard they think.

Choose from the latest models from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, SpaceXAI and open source, in the menu at the bottom of the prompt box. Effort runs from Low to Max; the default is an all-round model at Extra High. More capable models and higher effort cost more.

TaskModelEffort
Building or redesigning your storefrontMost capableHigh or above
Finding the cause of a problemMost capableExtra High or Max
Campaigns, sales analysis, writingAll-roundMedium or High
Quick questionsFastLow or Medium

Changes apply from your next message and are remembered in this browser. Switching models mid-chat costs extra once, as the new model reads the whole chat. If a model declines a request, rephrase it or try another. See Credits & usage.

Shortcuts

Saved messages you add to any chat by typing /.

Type / and pick a shortcut; it's replaced by its full text when you send, and you can add more words around it. Create your own, or copy and edit a built-in one, from Shortcuts in the sidebar. Shortcuts belong to your account and still need approval for changes.

Built-inWhat it asks for
/stock-checkLow and out-of-stock products
/todayToday's revenue, orders and anything unusual
/unfulfilledOrders waiting to ship, oldest first
/best-sellersTop products over 30 days
/add-productAdds a product, asking for its details
/publishPublishes your storefront

Scheduled tasks

Regular checks that only message you when something needs attention.

Ask in any chat what to check and how often: hourly, every 6 hours or daily at a set time. Good uses are a daily brief, low stock, stuck orders and unusual activity. Each run starts fresh, can only look (never change anything), and reports in the task's own chat.

Example request

Every morning at 8, check our stock and tell me about anything that's down to 10 units or fewer. Keep it under $5 a month.

Edit, pause, delete or set a monthly spending limit from Scheduled in the sidebar. Every run uses credits, so choose the slowest frequency that works; a task pauses when it hits its limit.
